Climate projections at your fingertips

Climate Projections at Your Fingertips: How Oceanum’s CMIP6 Datacubes Are Simplifying Climate Data Access for Everyone.

Oceanum’s CMIP6 Datacubes, powered by our Datamesh, offer streamlined access to climate projection data for users of all expertise levels.

Recognising the value of CMIP6 data in providing probabilistic views of future climate scenarios, Oceanum simplifies the often challenging process of gathering multi-variable, multi-model climate projections.

Our curated datacubes, derived from a subset of the Pangeo CMIP6 archive, enable efficient data loading into Python environments or download in various formats. These datacubes provide interpolated, gridded or point data for oceanic and atmospheric variables across different emission scenarios and output frequencies, empowering informed decision-making based on comprehensive climate insights.

By providing a user-friendly interface to this critical data, Oceanum facilitates a deeper understanding of climate change impacts and supports the development of effective adaptation strategies.

This figure demonstrates the Oceanum Datamesh API’s ability to efficiently process and visualize climate data. By comparing monthly temperature anomalies across different CO2 emission scenarios at a specific location, the workflow showcases the API’s capacity to: – Identify relevant models (over 600 runs)  – Download data from multiple datacubes (historical and four climate scenarios) – Compute mean and spread within approximately 15 minutes The compact, tabular nature of the datacubes facilitates seamless data combination and analysis, resulting in a clear visualization of climate trends.
