Now live on the Oceanum Datamesh: the P-SKRIPS Ross Sea Coupled Climate Dataset

The @Antarctic Science Platform has made the P-SKRIPS Ross Sea Coupled Climate Dataset available through the Oceanum Datamesh offering an unprecedented way to explore the Ross Sea and Southern Ocean.

The P-SKRIPS dataset (https://doi.org/10.5194/gmd-16-3355-2023) provides a high-resolution, fully coupled atmosphere–sea-ice–ocean simulation, now accessible through the Oceanum Datamesh — offering new opportunities for Antarctic research and climate analysis. Explore, analyse, and visualise the Antarctic system like never before!

What’s inside:

  • 10 km spatial resolution across ~5 million km² of the Ross Sea region
  • 372 variables — from air temperature and wind direction to atmosphere pressure and even sea-ice thickness and sea surface temperature
  • Realistic feedbacks between air, ice, and ocean systems
  • Ice-shelf cavities and fine-scale coastal processes fully resolved

What you can do with it:

  • Explore Antarctic climate processes in detail
  • Case studies & scenario experiments at regional scale
  • Analyse coastal dynamics and polynyas at resolutions global models typically do not resolve.
